We visited the sunset capitol of Texas, the
Oasis overlooking Lake Travis. Famous for sunset views, casual Mexican food & drinks. We enjoyed margaritas & fajita nachos.
If you want to go out for a swanky dinner in Austin, you should try the
Driskill Grill in the
Driskill Hotel. Jesse
Driskill was a wealthy cattleman in the civil war era, he opened the hotel in 1884, the hotel cost $400,000 at the time of its building which was a large fortune at the time. Two weeks after its opening the hotel hosted its first
inaugural governors ball, the balls are still held at this location today. If you go to the
Driskill for dinner keep in mind that it is five star, with five star prices. We did not arrive for our reservation in time but the lobby bar is lovely, filled with
luxurious antiques & a mix of Texas history. We had the three course dinner, Matt having the
Ahi Tuna & I had the
Ribeye, we would
recommend both. We opted to skip desert for two glasses of fantastic port.
